Kitchen Island Light

Designer: McCarter & Associates.
Project: San Diego Residence.

This island fixture was designed to coordinate with the overall shape of the center kitchen island as well as function as a “Pot Rack”. The custom residential lighting fixture was constructed from steel tubing and suspended from the ceiling flanking the skylight.

A great deal of coordination was necessary to be able to mount the fixture directly to the beams and the perfect height above the island. The lanterns suspended from the scroll details were a custom design with coordinating lanterns suspended above the sink area. The center lantern is on a separate dimmable circuit to function as a night light. Four up light cylinders were designed into the center of the fixture body for a soft glow of light against the ceiling area. The up lights are also on a separate dimmable circuit.

The oak and acorn details of this custom residential lighting fixture were designed and cut from 1/8” thick material and painted a coordinating color.
